Women in Public Finance Los Angeles Chapter 2021 Scholarship

As students continue to learn in a hybrid/remote environment, we believe it is important and valuable to stay connected with our future female leaders.  We would like to kick start our annual scholarship opportunity and provide one recipient with a $2,500 reward ahead of the Fall.


Scholarship and Award Overview

Women in Public Finance – Los Angeles Chapter operates a scholarship program that provides a Scholarship in an amount up to $2,500 annually.  The purpose of the Women in Public Finance – Los Angeles Chapter scholarship program is to:

1)    Recognize college-bound, female high school seniors who have exhibited scholastic achievement and demonstrated leadership skills;

2)    Encourage the consideration of careers in finance and, more specifically, public finance; and,

3)    Provide an opportunity for award recipients to meet women established in the public finance industry and learn about various career options and opportunities available to them.


To qualify and apply for the Scholarship and Award, the applicant must, at a minimum:

1)    Be a female, high school senior who intends to attend college in the Fall of 2021;

2)    Have at least a 3.0 GPA, or equivalent;

3)    Exhibit leadership skills through extracurricular activities, volunteer positions, and/or work experience;

4)    Have an interest in pursuing a public finance related career in finance, government, nonprofits,

  or law; and

5)    Complete and submit the 2021 Scholarship application form, the required essays and a photocopy of your most recent unofficial high school transcript via e-mail to so that the application is  RECEIVED no later than 6:00 PM (Pacific Time) on May 31, 2021.


Selection and Recognition

Women in Public Finance – Los Angeles Chapter will select one recipient based on the qualifications of the candidate as demonstrated by the completed application and submitted essays. The scholarship recipient will be notified on or about July 15, 2021. The recipient will be awarded a scholarship in an amount up to $2,500.  The scholarship will be paid in the form of a check payable to the award recipient. The award recipient, along with a parent, guardian, or teacher, will be invited to accept the scholarship and recognition at the Women in Public Finance – Los Angeles Chapter Quarterly Meeting to be held in December. (Note:  Attendance at the Quarterly Meeting is not required to receive the scholarship).  Women in Public Finance – Los Angeles Chapter may also elect to conduct phone interviews as part of the selection process.
